up at 8 to do a river tour to see the mayan ruins of lamanai...lamanai is the 3rd largest mayan ruin in central america...

the river tour was 2 hours just to actually get to the ruins themselves..this was the most interesting part of it all.we went down the river spotting birds, bats, iguanas, lizards and we saw some crocodiles on the way back...lamanai actually means submerged crocodiles..we actually found out that they have 46 species of snake but only 9 are poisonous and we didnt see any of them...thank god.hehe..

we got a speedboat so it was good fun..there were 4 couples and then me and ailise but it has been like the whole time so we werent too surprised.they were nice ppl anyway.

when we actually got to the ruins..they served lunch...at 11.45am..officially the earliest hour to have lunch ever!!haha...but it was very tasty...we then went into the forrest from there..put on lots of mosquito repellent cos we are in a malaria area here so we need to be careful and our guide also told us that some of the mosquitos were actually laying flies under the skin...so that kinda freaked me out...we were the only ones with shorts on but we ended up being the ones that were least bitten...in the forrest we saw howler monkeys and spider monkeys...they are loud...also saw some bugs and there was a scorpion in a hole beside a tree..the guide tried to get him out but he wasnt moving..pity.would have liked to see that...

so we got to the ruins and of course we climbed them...some great views from the top...took some pics and then headed back to the boat...

water melon and a rum punch cooled us down on the way back....was a really really good trip..would recommend it and our guide was excellent too..

got back at 5 and chilled for the evening...no dinner 2nite but we had a good lunch so that was alright in the end...got to watch just friends on the cable tv..i was a happy camper...
