today ended up being a perfect day..completely blue skies in the morning when we got up.we got picked up at 8 and drove for 2 hours to the port where we lead to isla damas..in the space of 10 mins we went from green mountainside scenery to the desert..but it was a blooming desert cos this year it had more rain than any other year and it had apparently snowed in the desert for the 1st time in 10 years..this global warming malarky!!

it took 2 hours to get to the port.it was in a little town with 300 inhabitants...cant understand how anyone can live in the desert though...

we got onto the fisherman boat wit 12 others and 15 mins after leaving the port we were surrounded by dolphins.there were about 50 in total.it was so cool...and cos we were so close to the water u could almost reach out and touch them but i didnt wanna risk gettin my hand bitten off so i didnt try.haha...

we were in the boat for 2 hours and we went to all the surrounding small islands where we saw sealions, seaotters, seals, birds and lets not forget the penguins but there were alot smaller than i imagined..not happy feet standard!!ha...it was so much fun seeing them all and so unaffected by our presence...they were wild but tame at the same time.

we got back at 3 to the port and we headed back to la serena ...we stopped off in a little village for tasty lunch and got back to la serena at 6...

we had to run and get our tickets for the night bus..got one for 2 am..

left at 7 to go to the planitarium...it was in english thankfully..im lackin in star vocabulary...

our guide was great..he knew so much..id love to have been as intelligent as him!haha...we looked at jupiter, the moon and lots of little stars that were actually blue and red and not white as we see them. he was full of info so we learned alot..i know all about star signs now.haha...it was so cold though but well worth it... we were there for 2 hours before we headed back to la serena for a 2 hour wait for the bus to valparaiso...great action packed day...needed it!!!
