got the overnight bus to la paz from potosi..wasnt as bad as i expected but i have to say that the bus station was the biggest culture shock yet on my trip so far.there were so many indigenous people in the bus terminal and so many poor people too..really didnt feel safe.we were petrified gettin on the bus but it turned out to be ok.we arrived in la paz at 5am so we needed to get a taxi to our hostel...we got to bed for 6 and were up again at 9 to organise ourselves for the next few days...2moro to the world's most dangerous road and today to the prison...

we heard some bad things about the prison so just before we headed in..we tried to look for some guys to go in with us ..this tour is completely illegal....

we found no one so the 4 of us headed in...we waited outside the jail and the guard approached us and asked us if we were interested in a tour...it felt like the most illegal thing that i have ever done...

we paid our bribe and were brought into the prison...our guide manuel who was a prisoner himself brought us around.we had some security guys too who were also prisoners..one who was serving a 30 year life sentence and was such a nice man...it was the craziest thing ever...the place is full of drugs..it is even so corrupt that the prisoners give the guards their cocaine and they sell it for them on the streets and give them the money...crazy or what!!!!the prisoners actually live with their families..it is very sad to see the kids running around when there is so much stuff goin on around them....we were in some of the cells too...and then they asked us if we wanted to go to a party in the prison..ie if we wanted to buy some cocaine. it was so scary to be mixed in with prisoners who are so off their faces and to be amongst drug trafficers, rapists, murderers etc...and the only protection we had were our guide and security guard who were prisoners too..

we spent an hour there in total..it was enough..we could barely talk when we came out but it was such an unbelievable and mad experience that i will never forget...

got back to the hostel and did a bit of walking around la paz.had dinner in the hostel 2nite and met a german, aussie and canadian who are gonna do the bike tour wit us 2moro.up at 6am..cant wait...world's most dangerous road here we come.....
