up at 6.30 this morning to cycle down the worlds most dangerous road...we left and met our group at a cafe in la paz...our guide was scottish and was great fun so i knew it was gonna be a good day...

we got on the bus and they brought us to a road where we could practice on the bikes..there was a group of 12 of us and everyone was good fun...we got on our bikes and cycled down a practice road wit lots of traffic..when we got to the bottom ..we heard that a lorry had gone over the side and everyone died...it literally happened 10 mins after us..the weather was really bad and it was difficult to see..it made the road that little bit more dangerous..more for the adrenaline i guess..haha

after the trial run we were brought up to the top of the death road and got the run down of how to take the corners etc...it was so exciting...we headed off..i was third in the group...ive been called competitive now by ppl in the group that just met me that day..i thought that had worn off.haha..obviously not but for some reason the road didnt scare me..i actually loved it..we had about 4 or 5 stops down the road..all downhill so u can imagine how fast we were goin around bends that were extremely tight...

he told us stories of ppl who died goin down the road...13 have died so far..he also told us how ppl had pulled their arms out of their sockets, had broken arms and legs and an irish girl went over the side the week previous but luckily survived...they were all true stories but i think he told us so that we would be extra careful on the road...

we got to the bottom after about 3 hours of cycling..it was so brilliant and the group was so cool. we had a late lunch at the bottom in an animal sanctuary with monkeys all over the place..good fun. it took 3 and a half hours to get back to la paz but we had some beers on the bus journey to pass the time and it was great fun...we were initally gonna go out but the idea wore off after the bus journey..we were just too tired..

instead we had food in the hostel and watched a dvd wit a canadian and german we met the other day..

today was such a brilliant day.i would do it again tomorrow..best day of travelling so far...
